It always amazes me how people have an idea in their head that if you charge £X instead of £Y, then you won't lose money, and enough people will come.

This being based on absolutely nothing, just one person's idle speculation.

OTOH hard experience shows that those who want to come will come and those who weren't going to will not be swayed by a fiver off. The dividing line between it being a worthwhile use of your time is never as fine as that. Experience shows that even if the event costs buttons, or even is free, this is not enough to get people to come. It doesn't make an event any more attractive.

Looking specifically at our case, a home tie with say Whitehaven will find plenty of vacant seats around me. And those are people who had ALREADY PAID, and STILL don't find the event attractive enough. So the balance between price and attractiveness is almost totally slanted in favour of attractiveness.

As a season ticket holder there have been a few games I've missed this season that I could've made it to if I could be ar5ed. I've not regretted missing any of them.

So I agree.

I would say it depends on the person. As someone where it's more about the principle than the actual amount it costs me, a couple of quid can make a difference.

I'm not relevant to this situation as I have a season ticket, but for example when it comes to the Final if we were to get there, the price of that ticket will determine if I attend or not. I'll set myself an amount I think is fair, and if the price is more than that, I won't attend. Not because I couldn't afford it, but because I didn't believe it was a fair price for the occasion. And literally 1 or 2 pound either way would have a different outcome.

But I am likely in the minority with that outlook on things.

The venue for the final or date hasn't been decided yet.

The RFL will announce the date and venue on completion of the playoffs. Last year it was held in Widnes, but with four Yorkshire sides occupying the top four spots, one must suspect they'll choose a West Yorkshire venue like Featherstone or Leeds.

Why on earth is it at a neutral veue. The only some consolation I would take in winning it is maybe getting the xtra funding. No one wants to win this silverware. Its an embarrssment to even call it a final.

We could lose our next 7 games and still probably in the semi final.

Are you certain,Mick?

Last year the venue was announced, for Widnes,as early as the 3rd June,as a triple-header,with clubs from all over - with London in the final.

There are some uncertain venues in the weeks ahead.

Scrap the £2 additional cost for buying on the day and you might get more "floaters" decide to turn up. As has been noted above, it's probably more about the principle rather than the actual 200 pennies.
