I don't think Studd's an idiot, but his tactic of saying something, anything, just on the basis of provoking reaction is a bit transparent.
For someone "in the game", though, the "Fans buy the club" thing is particularly stupid. The phrase may sound superficially plebeian to those who know nowt about things, but he bloody well knows that we simply don't have this platoon of very wealthy, skilled and committed benefactors, all kicking their heels trying to fill their empty days at the moment, all available and willing to suddenly devote their life to running a rugby club, for nothing. That's what is so unattractive about him doing it - he knows the idea is utter, risible bollox.
