I guess what I'm saying is the current set of young lads have already debuted (apart from Ricketts). There'll be no others ready for at least 18 months.

I'm hoping we get the VISA situation sorted soon as we'll need to look outside the UK for players too for 2018 and I'd think Toovey would be a good draw as was Rohan Smith.

If I may be pedantic - Ricketts has actually played in the first team - he played in one of the shield games at the end of last season.

I say we are not doing too bad on what goes on, on the field..

Other than that nobody is any wiser as to what they have planned for the club, where we are at or where we will be communication is pretty poor which is quite frustrating.

If we can survive this year I will be happy, then hopefully we can see some real progress next year!

Workington away if memory serves. The one we lost.

I'll admit I was one of the "we should have started in the third tier" brigade, convinced that our -12 points would be an almost impossible mountain to climb. I am absolutely delighted to have been proved to be over pessimistic, albeit thanks to the key loan players we have been ble to use so far. As things stand, and if and when Toovey gets his visa, I'm confident we can stay up this season and then build a challenge for whatever system the RFL have in place for next season. After all the deep doom and gloom experienced over the winter, it's just fantastic to be able to stand on the Odsal terraces and actually enjoy some entertaining rugby - the last half hour vs Dewsbury was a joy to watch, and a deserved reward for the fans who have loyally stood by the club through these dark times.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves. The last half an hour on Sunday was breath taking but what preceded it wasn't worth paying to watch.

The fact Dewsbury scored 18 points on our patch tells you all you need to know about it.

A couple of injuries or recalled loan players and Sunday would have been a different story. Let's just keep taking each game as it comes and chipping the points off.

It's far too early to say anything about our chances and much of our success so far, as has already been said, is down to the loanees. I am slightly more hopeful that, if things remain the same (or even better, if we can get some 'signed' players in) then we can keep it up and manage to stay in this division. It is by no means a given, though.

For sure, the youngsters have played very well - much better than we might have predicted, but a few of then are still of tender years and still, strictly speaking, academy players. We must not overplay these lads or we risk destroying what we have. The Sam Burgesses and Leon Pryces, who charge into open age at 17 and play like they've always been there are rarities; the majority need a more structured graduation into the big time, particularly in the forwards and this must not be forgotten.

Agreed about the first 40 were pretty dismal. But last year we would have lost that game. And probably the Swinton, Batley and Toulouse games. There ere pwriods in those games where things were going against us.When the going got tough and decisions and things weren't going our way, our SL wannabes just gave up. This lot keep plugging away to the very ens and don't seem to panic when we go behind.

Its no surprise the Giants are on the receiving end of some tonkings at the moment.
