Sadly with Garry Schofield as a regular on the show, it makes it impossible for me to ever listen to it.

Yes, I remember him playing for Shuds at t'Cougars, and he had more banter than all the crowd put together.

Likewise his beer belly.

Given the info in the first reply on this thread, Woolly, the maths just about pans out:
11 x £45K = £495K. Leigh/DB were/was rewarded for daring to dream. The dream didn't quite work out the first time around, but it will go on.

As was stated, Leigh voted to cough up themselves in the event that it were any other club to go down. To whom people choose to give their money is entirely their own concern unless it be a governing body awarding it. This wasn't. Nothing to rant about.

I don't think anyone's grievances are aimed at Leigh specifically. But you have to admit that the rest of the championship clubs are well within their right to be vexed about this. It would have been exactly the same regardless of who came down from SL.
I'm actually surprised Neil Hudgell hasn't said something about this, he normally doesn't shy away from saying his piece and if I was him I'd be wondering where KR's £495k was last year. Then again they're back in SL now so he probably doesn't give a stuff.

Had HKR stayed down then it would not have surprised me to have seen them receiving this money to help Hudgell to remain full time and fight Toronto

I don't think they would. HKR were not involved in the meeting - or the agreement - regarding the money.
This whole thing was done because there was a real possibility that Catalans would be relegated and replaced by a team (Rovers) who would want their share of central funding. I'm not sure how true it is but I've seen several people say that Catalans do not take a share of the central funding which means the other clubs all get slightly more. If this is true then it doesn't take a genius to see why the other SL clubs would want them to stick around.
SL chairmen ultimately thinking only for themselves yet again.

First of all Nothus (hope you are well?), thanks for the above qualification. Secondly, Bongser sees the possible vexation, as the vast majority of Sky money is given to those "haves" that voted to give a parachute payment to a departing SL club whilst lower league teams have their TV rights sewn up for a comparative pittance.

Thirdly, and most importantly, thank-you so much for the word "vexed" (adapted above) that Bongser hadn't heard since his grandparents were alive. The diversity of the English vocabulary is a thing to be treasured, furthered and nurtured.

"Deep joy!" (as Bongser's erstwhile avatar would have said).

Rooting for you boys this year. :thumb:

 I'm almost certain that 'vexed' is one of the replacement words in the swear filter on this website, but I can't remember which word.

Maybe vexed off?

Edit: Yep, it's p!ssed

Deep joy again, Nothus. The site's auto-moderation has taught Bongser more than one new pejoritive in its time. He once referred "in an affectionately nostalgic way" to an ex-Leigh player by the name of Pike. His post was corrected at that point to "Travelling Friend". Never heard or seen that usage in this neck o' the woods prior to that (though noted that it happened with Mickey's name in the predictions league last season  ) Now attempt to teach the term to as many as possible, not through any hatred of the travellers, merely to have the last laugh on the "vexing" PC brigade. :thumb:

Auto-moderation has its uses, I suppose, but one of the problems seems to be that it is based on US usage which sometimes looks a little 'quaint' in the UK. Auto-correct is another thing which, again, has its uses but which often leaves me not only vexed but perplexed..
