they may also be trying to sign a winger. There may be no wingers of sufficient quality available to sign; it may be that signing a FB and moving Halley to the wing may be the best way of improving the backline by the players who are currently on the market. If noone was signed because there were no wingers available, that wanted to come, and for the right amount of money i dont think people would be very happy, so it may be that signing a very good FB and moving halley to the wing may be the best option.
I can see what you're saying but i personally feel that Kearney is a better FB than Halley and if by signing him is the best way we can currently improve our backline then so be it.
