It also means that we can indeed look to renegotiate any contract with any player we want to keep, and any player to which this applies would obviously need to consider taking a pay cut to stay. Not many of them would exactly be seen as hot properties, even by their mums, and so the basic answer to the objection repeatedly raised "why would they take a pay cut" is simply some job is better than no job.

It would mean we could offer decent contracts to the players Jimmy most values and the rest have brought their situation on themselves.

Although of course now we have Jimmy, the above is, I realise, purely academic as we'll win every game we have left, in a canter, and comfortably escape relegation

Given avoiding relegation is so staggeringly unlikely, it's about time someone put their dignity on the line with some sort of "If we avoid relegation I'll [INSERT MAD THING]".

Apparently during the recent press conference over at Featherstone, they confirmed that both Steve Crossley and Ben Hellewell would be leaving the club at the end of the season.

I would take both of these guys back in an instant. Both home grown players as well.

But of course, in reality we won't even have begun thinking about who to sign for next season yet because MG is still banging on about taking his issues to the high courts

Exactly. Thing you have to remember is that there are two less superleague clubs next year.

They aren't all going to find superleague clubs that want them. Especially on anything like the terms they are on now.

Crossley would fit both scenarios, squad prop if we got 6 points back and stayed up, and team prop if we didnt.
