Did I not read somewhere that the terms of the lease agreement between BMDC, the RFL and the Bradford Bulls determined that the Bulls or some other incarnation of Bradford Rugby League had to be played at Odsal. At the time the head lease was transferred this was explained as quite a simple process. Wouldn't this mean the RFL are in breach of the lease come the first game of next season? One would have to see the lease to know what consequences would apply?
Similarly, if the lease expired in 2019, wouldn't this constitute a natural break in what I understand is a 3 way agreement, particularly as no RL is going to be played? It would be odd if only one aspect of a 3 way agreement expired. Irrespective leases aren't open ended and at least some conditions must apply.
The devaluing of the lease would support one or both of the above, in which case the freeholder, BMDC could possibly evict the RFL, having fulfilled the requirements of the lease? Yet Chalmers thought the RFL would blink, and they didn't.
Nevertheless, something about this lease seems really odd, and that's before we start getting into conspiracies. Has anyone actually seen it?
