Bradford gave us Hockney, Leeds gave us Moyles.

I thought the strategy was to avoid making the osv sound like a Bulls thing. But with no other spokesman for it...

Hood's response in the YP.

Is it bordering on disinformation to suggest that Bulls own the stadium - without the qualification that it's the leasehold that the club owns?

technically it is - but with the caveat that as long as we are keeping up our side of the lease then the council are unable to sell odsal. Seeing as our main obligation is to play majority of our home games there -which we do, then its hard to envisage us breaking terms of lease (given that we dont pay rent and raising rent to unnaceptable levels is device landlords usually use to force sitting tenants out of a lease situation). so to all intents and purposes council cant sell odsal without our agreement afaik. Certainly not disinformation on level that city and their supporters club have been spreading in last few months.

Love Apple now closed down. That is really sad after they put their lives into it for 13 years. Another nail in the coffin of Bradford centre. It's 2 years since I stopped work in Bradford, it's hard to imagine but it has deteriorated even further. Walking from Forster Sq to Titus Salt's I notices the OldBank, Goose, Varsity & most of those opposite are now shut. The Odeon has been allowed to rot. With the pool being constructed it is like Beirut.

I think that's being very harsh on Beirut.

Just when you think things have reached their lowest ebb they get worse.

Apart from crappy Angelo's I can't think of any non curry house place to eat on that side of town now. That said past 8pm there was never anyone in the Love Apple, obviously there aren't enough people wanting to spend an evening in the city centre, and you can see why.

The state of the Odeon is an utter outrage, and all 100% deliberate. Once the Council leaned on teh owners to clean it up, and they did, but now they are complicit in leaving it to rot, until after years of a slow and ugly death it wihave to be demolished, or fall down of its own accord. Still at least you'll be able to see its refelction in the mirror pool.

The Council don't want anyone in the centre. Why they even vetoed football on the big screen, citing potential crowd trouble, and elfnsafety due to the nearby demolition site. Which is behind the screen so WTF would anyone want to clamber into the site for?

Bradford City Centre at night is now as eerie and unpleasant a place as ever I experienced in eastern Europe. Night? There's no fscker there during the day!

Re: Odsal Sporting Village : Mon Jun 14, 2010 4:11 pm
Several years worth of weeds were removed from the Odeon in the last week. Anne Hawkesworth, the Tory whip that demanded all Tory councilors vote for demolition, and who has been instrumental in delaying anything other than demolition, now thinks it's a disgrace and that large sums of money should be thrown at it by Leeds Forward.

I'm past caring about the building now tbh. I just hope the campaign to save it goes on long enough to drag the names of everyone involved through the mud.
