With Aston starting for Castleford tonight, that's one bonfire proverbially peed on

I always saw him as another version of Sammut. I have always said i prefer a steady more traditional half back so never really fell head over heals for Dane. He will do well in the first few games for Fev but then what.
Lilley should be signed now so he has security and can settle properly and paired with Milnes long term. We are not going up this year so let them grow together and look at them for next season onward.
I am not surprised Dane has gone and don't see it as a big shock. Hopefully the bad back will soon be right and we have three halves with a couple others who can help out. I wouldn't complain if we bring in an experienced lad to help the two youngsters out this year and next but who that could be I have nobody in mind at the moment.
Dane has done nothing consistently for a long time due to different reasons so no big miss for me.

I'd imagine a large chunk at least will be paid by Fev. It was common knowledge he'd been offered around and Hunslet & Newcastle were interested but wages were a stumbling block.

Featherstone are paying a good sum of money for him each month. However I'm not sure if that covers his full wage or not.

Whilst I don’t disagree a good steady half back is always needed in a side, we can’t complain when we play boring one man rugby with no creativity, which has been aimed at us in last few weeks. A Chisholm or a Sammutt at least gives you that chance of something out of nothing.

Not sure just when we could potentially make a move for Lilley. Much as it's pretty obvious Leeds aren't really interested in re-signing him the protocols will still have to be followed before hopefully signing him for next year. Jordan is still being paid his contract from Leeds for the rest of this season don't forget, which I'm guessing will be a half decent wedge even for the very junior player he was when he signed it.
It's interesting that JK says that Rohan Milnes was "encouraged to take on the line more" by Gaz Carvell because that was the thing that Chissy used to do quite a lot, with reasonable success and it seems the club see him in that role in the future. It's good advice too, for if you never go for the line the defenders can just set their line and sit back and wait - if defenders are half expecting the attempted break they can't just concentrate on stopping the runner. I agree about Rohan and Jordan being groomed for the future, though clearly Young Milnes can't be rushed too much and he's bound to have 'low periods' as he develops. It will be interesting when Joe Keyes is fit again, though that isn't likely to be soon by the sound of it.

Let’s hope they don’t have any low periods whilst Flanagan is out as we currently have 2 half backs plus Wildie to hook

Agree with is but when I say "steady" I don't necessarily mean boring and predictable. I like many will remember such as Deac's who wasn't fast and because of that he learnt to be the play maker and put others through when they learnt they had to be near him ready for his pass. Slower players tend to learn how to be better play makers because of their lack of pace. look at the Halifax half who I have forgotten his name. A bit podgy and old but runs the game for them just like many other older halves tend to do especially when they have quicker players who have learned to be on his shoulder at the right time - Deac's and Robbie were a good example for me. Someone like a Finn along with a quick fullback, stand off and back rowers would be of more value than a flashy once a blue moon half back. I am probably old fashioned as I was brought up with such as Seabourne, Woolford, Harkin etc and like to see the S.H. running along the line bringing the others through.

He started well Fev 12 - 0 up, influential in both tries (particularly the first) and converted both BUT has just failed to find touch from a penalty!

Nice game so far;
