I might be suffering with a young case of alzheimer's here but wasn't a Simon Mannering name mentioned months back? That would be about the only signing from the Warriors that would really really surprise me!

It's pretty impossible to say whether the supposedly 'in the know' posts are being orchestrated from within the club or just individuals with connections or who want people to believe they do have connections. My opinion, for what its worth [ie. not very much], is that Duffers and co have more to do than play daft games with fans, so I'd go for unofficial action - if indeed these people actually have any real knowledge.

Thing is though, even if it were from the club, far from being unprofessional, it would be a fairly successful attempt to drum up interest [look at the length of the thread] even if it only amongst the already committed fans. Seems to me they're stoking the fire nicely..

Good rumours, be they true or false, stoke interest - other boards are full of discussions on names and it's all good fun. This is a bit weird. How does a 'secret rumour' stoke interest? I want lies, made up nonsense with sightings in the Bulls car park, something to take my mind off the 5th or 6th awful season in the hope that something better might be round the corner etc. In short I need HELP.

As for daft games and certain people - please.

It's all grist to the rumour mill, to be fair, names or no names and I'd say that just giving ballpark identities is probably more thought provoking and gives more to consider than coming out with names, though all equally pointless. Anyway, FC says someone is to be announced 'shortly', I think it was, so we'll wait and see..

I don't see any need for winterstein, doesn't have any experience to offer and not good enough imo to offer anything better than those already here. Suppose he's got some size in his favour but that's about it imo. I like that Chris Dean at Widnes.

The only reason I can see to add Winterstein is to give us a bit more depth. TBH he’s not a player that’s ever caught my eye. With Platt and Lulia going I’d see more need to fill both those slots as well as a prop to cover where Langley was playing for us. Winterstein doesn’t really offer cover in the places we really need it.
