It just goes to show how important timing can be, even with catastrophe and bad news. Case in point being wakefield's financial problems coming out early enough for them to make the signings that they have in contrast to the bulls and them trying to hold on/out and now being picked apart with little or no time to replace.
I wonder if you might end up with the Aussie/Polish lad wakey were after; siejka (sp).

Sammut practically begged for a new extended contract but FC said he had to prove himself and earn it - I mean fancy telling one of your best players if not the best he had to prove himself absolute joke

Let's get this thin in proportion. He could be brilliant or go missing. What we need is a team of consistent players so we know what we are getting each week. Sammutt is a good player to have if you have 12 others on the park of sufficient quality to cover for him when he goes walkabout.
On a more psychological point, he is a bit like the dead albatross. He was at Crusaders and they went belly up, he came to us and we went belly up twice. best of luck Wakefield.

The worst bit of this is we've let him go to a relegation rival, seriously why would any club do that? surely there would have been other clubs interested who we could have negotiated players swaps with.

Losing him at all with a thread bare squad is bad, losing him to a rival is plain stupid.

what a way to start a season.

It's the timing that is the issue. We are leaving ourselves with no chance, like it said earlier if they haven't TUPed across and can legally walk then fine, but we seem to be selling with nothing else happening. The squad was small, so we let players go. It was always a worry offering Gale another contract if that has been the trigger in Sammut walking. If Scruton is legally contracted to new ltd co and we let him go, to me, that is surrender. The disappointment with the players is the timing as they could have gone in Dec. Nothing yet to say they were TUPed onto less money so we can't blame that

Players would not agree to TUPE on less cash - then watch the club offer Gale a new contract.
