This is the real reason why Leeds have won more games than anyone else on this side of the hill. Everyone wanted a home fixture against them for the crowd. Same deal for Wigan on t'other side.
I remember the percentage formula - which certainly had some logic to it, though I can't remember the Leeds and Wigan thing.
Some things I do remember about Yorks and Lancs leagues was there was an imbalance between the clubs with more Yorkshire teams than Lancs, so around four Yorkshire teams actually agreed to play in the Lancs league - I remember Batley doing this for quite a while. All the Cumbrian sides were originally in the Lancs league, even Fulham were given entry into the Lancashire cup - and we thought they were a new team!
