I feel like Ferres is becoming a bit of a scapegoat here. Yeah he says some dumb pr stuff but as far as I'm concerned that's not even his main job. Why isn't Robbie taking care of Ross' questions?
Other than that, I'm struggling to see why he's in the firing line more than others. Like our p!ss poor coach, for example.
Nobody said a peep about Ferres last season while we were winning more than we lost and reaching the MPG. But suddenly the team hits some poor form and it's Ferres who gets it in the neck? Why? He has absolutely no input with regards to team coaching and selection, how we are currently performing has nothing to do with him whatsoever.
Yes it's not acceptable that we have no scrum half, and some of our signings were poor. But none of us know how hard the club had to work to scrape together any kind of squad after we got relegated. All of that fine tuning of salaries, squeezing the last penny out of the salary cap and dealing with agents and players' demands must have been an absolute nightmare. I don't envy his job one bit and in all honesty I think he did a pretty decent job last year.
We also have no idea how hard he is working right now to find new signings, a 7 included. Nobody on here can think of any legitimate potential scrum halves for us to sign. Hell even some SL clubs are struggling, so I'm not really sure what some people are expecting him to do. We played a significant part of last season with Addy at 7 and were not struggling for attacking ideas like we are now. Our lack of a scrum half is a problem, but it's not the only one or even the biggest one at the club right now.
If it was anyone other than Ferres, I might think the same. But Ferres has proven himself to come out with nothing but drivel since joining the club, that I can't think it's anything other than him being a tit again.

Perfectly valid points I think. I literally haven't a clue what Robbie Paul actually does. Genuinely not a clue. It feels to me, though someone please correct me, that you need a Ferres role OR a Chief Exec type role, not both.
Being out of the cup so early could do us some good. Just get through this game, don't need to be convincing just get the win. Then we have a bit of a break before our next match which hopefully might give us chance to get Sidlow, Kavanagh and Williams back from injury. Who knows, there might also be time during that break to find a scrum half, even if it's only a loan deal.
Sidlow was still in a pot on Sunday and I hope to God we don't rush him back. Kavanagh Was around a 2 month injury so should be back in the not too distant future. Think he 'll be a big plus for us.
I agree get a win Sunday and I would send the players on holiday for a week. Get away from the club, sport, get the negativity out of their systems and come back for the second part of the season ready to rip in.
Really hope we get a SH in that break. I know before Easter it was in the T&A that signings were imminent. Just hope they are signings that will lift the fans.
Adrian Purtell, Steve Crossley, Joe Lumb, Adam O’Brien, Jay Pitts, Jonny Campbell, Alex Mellor, Lee Gaskell, James Clare, Kris Welham, Paul Clough, Ross Oakes, Dan Fleming, Mitch Clark, Danny Addy, Dale Ferguson, Ethan Ryan, Omari Caro, Tom Olbison.
I'd go
1. James Clare/Jonny Campbell (Think Clare is our best full-back, but also wouldn't mind seeing Campbell get a run there) 2. Ethan Ryan 3. Kris Welham 4. Ross Oakes 5. James Clare/Jonny Campbell 6. Adrian Purtell 7. Lee Gaskell 8. Paul Clough 9. Adam O'brien 10. Steve Crossley 11. Tom Olbison 12. Dale Ferguson 13. Danny Addy 14. Joe Lumb 15. Dan Fleming 16. Mitch Clark 17. Jay Pitts
Oscar Thomas must be really happy at the career choice he made, no worse than lots of others last week, but he gets dropped! On the positive side, no automatic return for Mathers, which I half expected.
