Bradford gave us Hockney, Leeds gave us Moyles.

: Mon May 18, 2009 9:26 pm
Was thinking of something along these lines but being out of the country till October and perhaps longer I thought I'd hold my fire. Seeing as other people seem interested, here are my thoughts.

Spirit of ’64: The Audibles

Aim: to encourage vocal, positive support of the Bulls at home and away games.

We all want games to be as enjoyable for Bulls fans as possible. Obviously the players on the field have the biggest role to play in this, but fans can also contribute.

Due to the layout of Odsal and the demographics of our support base, Bradford’s support has picked up a reputation for being quiet. This can be changed, through simple supporter actions:

  • Sharing chants online, using RedAmberandBlack (see http://forums.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?t=399174), email lists, Facebook, Twitter.
  • These songs could also be printed off and distributed at/on the way to games, and potentially printed in the programme/T&A.
  • Establish a singers’ group, to be called ‘The Audibles’:
  • Encourage fans who wish to sing to stand/sit together at games
  • Produce amber/yellow (brightest of the club’s colours) t shirts so fellow members can be easily identified. Something like this.
    Image
  • Use one of the T shirts and a broomstick to construct a Roman Empire-style ‘standard’ so as to help create a focal point on the terraces. Bit like the chap on the right is holding here (spearhead optional).
    Image
  • Encourage the club to adopt the songs used as a basis for the chants as the music used for each respective player, e.g the Top Cat theme for Craig Kopczak
  • Get behind players that are getting a hard time from opposition or Bulls supporters

Isn't there still an unofficial zone - behind the tunnel and up towards the back of the terrace?

I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

I'm open to suggestions. :) I thought that if you spell it like that, it puts you more in mind of the car company.

I like it......!!

Taking some positive action like this is probably the only way to improve the atmosphere to a marked degree.
af, the foundations are certainly there to start something off. Surely there are some people on here with marketing experience who can pick this up and take it to another level.

Being a "member" of such a group would certainly make you feel part of something and you'd almost feel obliged to get to every game, so not to let anyone down.

When (and if) the OSV is complete, that would be an ideal time to "pick a side" to congregate.

I've mentioned on here before the difference in atmosphere at football games, where pretty much everyone buys into what we are talking about. I know Chelsea have all the song words on the website. Also Man U even have "song writers" that make new chants up and distribute the words in the Stretford end, which then catch on to the full ground.

I hope this keeps the momentum...
