According to our coach we don't need one!!! :?:

Yet many others seem to believe we do... Including Ferres who is a major part of player recruitment!! Big sign of disconnect??

Naturally I really want Jimmy to succeed as our coach but I struggle to understand him sometimes... Far to stubborn to take the club forward IMO. If he can't see we lack a genuine 7 to take us to the next level then that's really worrying :FRUSRATED:

Let's hope he is playing it cool and not playing his hand in public. He has said if right player was available he would speak to Green. Question is, will jimmy enquire about the right player and try and force the issue? I somehow doubt it

I'm secretly hoping that is is case but I think we've known jimmy long enough now that "playin it cool" isn't his style!

As Ross H has suggested... What not ask the question about Brierley? It would appear there is some level of availability there.

I must be the only one who really doesn't care about a roof. It's just weather. Wear the appropriate clothing instead of all throwing £50 in and MAN UP.

(Yes, I appreciate it puts people off and some don't want to bring kids etc, but I'm being purely selfish here.....)

Weather protection is only half the reason we should have a roof imo. What we also would get would be a huge improvement in atmosphere from the sounds of singing not instantly being absorbed by the cavernous bowl. I confess I've rarely sang watching us at home because it's as effective as whistling out of the door on the international space station.

Well, we do have a template for that - remember Derryck Fox, anyone?

How do we know Ferres hasn't made an enquiry?

Just saying...

IIRC the RFL owned head lease is 100 yrs+, which is remainder of our 125 yr lease which we sold them. Seem to remember our new sub lease from RFL was 20-30 yrs. Could be irrelevent if Green/Club buys freehold from council but do we then pay rent to RFL for a ground we hold freehold on?

If article on T&A is actually quoting Green verbatim with his comment about fans forming a Quango to raise half funds and he'll match it, then I think he's actually making offer a bit tongue in cheek with no real expectation that it will ever happen. But it puts ball back in fans court and stops people constantly asking about roof which he probably gets tired off.

When I made that comment I was thinking of what Peter Hood said [yeah, I know...] in a forum after the sale. He said all the conditions and terms remained just the same as with the lease with the council and it was just that we were paying a different rent to the RFL. It is two, or is it three, sets of owners back of course, so you may well be right as all sorts of new terms may have been introduced. Or, perish the thought, PH may have been given to terminological inexactitudes...

Precisely. If Ferres was going to enquire, he's hardly going to tell Ross so it can be put in the T&A. He'll only tell him if he is successful and the club are to announce the signing. Which is highly unlikely.

I get the theory behind that, but I'm not sure it would make a massive difference with our current support level. If we get back to 10,000 a game and the terracing packed out, yes it would help. But as it stands at the moment, I still don't think there's enough home support willing to sing to make a huge atmosphere. Look at the Provident Stand, that has a roof and is still pretty quiet.

I confess I'm one of the miserable sods that goes to the rugby to watch the rugby rather than have a sing-song, but I think there may be more of me than there are the noisy (at the moment).

Good point made by yourself and Paul... However it would be nice to know we have that ambition and intent!
