If our owners have money it begs the question: 'why have they waited until we are all but relegated before starting to spend it?'
Maybe they had enough of seeing their new signings get long term injuries in the first few games they played haha Smith, Chisholm, Gibson. Not even funny our injury luck!
In fairness, if Lee Smith & Dane Chisholm hadn't have got long term injuries after 4 and 1 game respectively, i would imagine we would have had a few more points on the board. If we'd also managed to have kept that left hand side of Bentley/Oakes/Ryan together for longer, we probably would have had even more points. Injuries have crippled us this year. Be interesting to see how many players we jave used this year. We've used around 7 loan players i think.
Maybe the owners saw this season in that they already spent a huge amount of capital trying to get a club together. Starting on -12 the odds were stacked against us and maybe they see it making more sense that rather than throwing money to inevitably be relegated, they decided to invest that will see us win L1 and move forward. As others have said, If we asemble a team that shows we mean business in rebuilding the club next year, then im on board.
Ive said it before, the work John Bastian does will see us with a HG squad that could see us compete to get back in SL again one day. Get off-field stability and on the field make an improvement each year while our academy products develop.
