Exactly this. Even with this 'letter' all it will take is a complaint from the above and I can see this happening. Is it really worth it for the Crusaders?

Looking at the version on the RFL site, I agree that the Operational Rules are very clear, he is not eligible, the Reserve game simply does not count. I am struggling to see why they even wrote to ask.

They say they have a letter from RFL saying he is clear to play but I don't know what they said in their request. Either way, the RFL (apart from cases where it may be authorised to give special dispensations) cannot change the Rules. It is always the club's responsibility to comply with the Rules, and I don't think any letter would count as "legal advice", it's just somebody's opinion, of whatever they've been asked. If we are found to have broken the Rules then we will be punished. The letter may be in mitigation, but if the player is ineligible, then it will not be an excuse.

Didn't we learn that when they refused to relegate us, as they should have done according to their rules, they year before last? I guess there's no advantage to making your own rules if you can't ignore them, as and when you feel like it?
