I think it was probably more to do with his salary and/or contract length. Wood specifically mentioned John Kear's (poor) recruitment choices at the forum so this might be a follow on from that. If it frees up some funds to better spend elsewhere then so be it.

Can anyone tell me a game where they genuinely thought Fleming had a good game? Not and ‘alright game’ not an ‘outstanding’ game, but just a good game?

I don’t think he’s made a tackle bust, a good offload, or won a ruck. I think Lauaki was a better prop.

No, but McDermott has coached him before so must be confident enough in having him around a side challenging for promotion.

Will be interesting if he improves!

Well, he'll obviously look better for Fev has they'll completely dominate most games. He could give loads of penalties away but it won't affect the result. Whereas with us those little things are hugely costly.

Has he? Didn’t think he had to be fair. It will be interesting but I can’t see it. He’ll be shipped off at the end of the year.

Sorry, you’re right! Got the dates completely mixed up when Fleming was at Toronto.

Must have been his recent performances for us that convinced McDermott then!

Mac has been pretty scatter gun in his approach to signings. Probably just sees Fleming's size as, on paper, a counter to a big Leigh pack. No one on Leigh's forum has even passed comment never mind voiced concern.

I don’t know whether his build makes coaches think they can be the one to turn him into a decent player but I’ve never seen anything in him and he’s been signed by a lot of them.

I think Fev were just under pressure to fill their ‘one new signing a week’ quota to keep up with leigh.

It feels like they are competing to sign players so the other can’t have them
