It is not impossible to be hit by a meteorite. Only a dozen or so make it to Earth's surface each day so your odds of being hit are vanishingly small, but not non-existent. A certain Mrs. Hewlett Hodges of Alabama is the only known human to have been struck by a meteorite, although it did go through her house roof and bounced off her radio first.
