The Beehive seems to go in 5 year cycles, where initially some enterprising promoters put on loads of great events for about 6 months, then the landlord manages to p!ss them off and the whole place goes back to looking like the outpatients for Linfield Mount for 4 1/2 years until another promoter (who hasn't been stung by the aforementioned landlord) has another go and everything is peaches and cream for another 6 months.
Its an incredible building; inside and out, and it would be a shame if it went the same way as the Melbourn Hotel, which (despite being entirely in the 1930 Tetleys art deco pub style, pretty much all of which are protected buildings in York, Leeds et al) is now a cheap carpet shop.
