I think we may be forgetting just how warm it was out there yesterday and that the game was so stop start with such a lot of penalties/stoppages that it was difficult for much 'flowing rugby' to break out. We didn't score much early on, but with such a short line and the defenders compressed it is much easier to defend (you can't even fling the ball out wide as there is no real 'wide' to fling it to..), and to be fair when they tired a bit the scoring rate went up a notch or two. Main downside are the injuries to Flanagan and Bustin as both look long term
I enjoyed the day out though and the locals were very friendly and enjoyed their rugby league; it's just a diabolical shame the league setup is as it is, and every week development sides like Hemel are being hung out to dry in games the can't compete in. The authorities really do need to take long hard look at what they've organised. The current setup is no good for the teams, the players or rugby league. Getting stuffed every week develops no-one and the senior sides can't let up as they have to get the scores for promotion.
