They say they have a letter from RFL saying he is clear to play but I don't know what they said in their request. I'm far from sure why we're even bothered for this game, for sure we're "treating all games as important" as of course we should, but I wouldn't have even broatched the subject with the RFL - did we really need to? Seriously? Surely not. After all, threequarters don't decide whether we win games, just by how many..

Exactly, and I agree with FA, I've just read and re-read the relevant section (D2:54 for the bored like me amongst you) of the operational rules and there is no way the midweek reserve game counts towards the suspension. Why would we even ask? and why would someone at the RFL allow dispensation is that's what's happened?

Just play someone else and avoid the issue, otherwise Scary71's version of events might be what happens next week.

#edit# unless.... with us not having a game last weekend the club are basically saying this weeks midweek reserve game was in lieu of having no game last weekend (as far as suspension is concerned)... The logic being that if the reserve game had been last Sunday that would have counted correctly to the suspension as per the operational rules, so what's the actual difference?

The only real difference seems to be that the reserve game wasn't Sunday but Thursday, and Thursday is specifically excluded. I don't know why we want to do it, or indeed why the RFL would sanction it - none of it makes any sense to me. Maybe I'm just stupid, though clearly I'm not on my own.

If it was a crunch game against one of main rivals then I could see why we might risk it, But this is a game we should win comfortably without grant so why risk it. We all know RFL have plenty of previous of saying one thing in private then going backwards on it later. Even a statement as to why he's elighble would help rather than vague mentions of it being per the operational rules when it clearly isn't.

Wouold have thought this would have been ideal game to give Ricketts or one of other academy wingers a shot.

Couldn't agree more

The thing is I don't actually think that Grant has been all that impressive anyway. Letting him sit this one out, and giving Ricketts or Oakes a start would hardly weaken us, and might get him to buck his ideas up in future weeks.

Ricketts & Oakes both played yesterday in the reserves. Ricketts limped off midway through the 2nd half

Another frustrating performance. Started well then clocked off. We're going to need to improve for next week.

Bit disjointed.I thought they kept Peltier quiet but another 2 points. One thing after the game why were the stewards stopping people from going through the doors at the back of the stand.

What is up with our pitch? All the grass around the edges and in the corners was dead!
The first team haven't played on it in nearly a month, there's no way it should look that bad.
