It's hardly Smith or the fookin ref, Fev came ready to play, and we didn't. We haven't finished FIFTH in the Cgampionship by accident, and despite bright early signs under Rohan, all the teams above us have showed they are superior so today is no surprise.
The sad fact that the players may want to reflect on when playing in the Coconut Shield or whatever it is in front of 900 souls is every game that they have pis.sed away and blown particularly against our level of opposition, if they had won even a single ONE of those, they would at least have scraped 4th, although now the season is over, lets not beat about the bush, a 4th place finish for such a highly paid full time squad would in itself have been a disgrace and embarrassment.
The blame and responsibility is straightforward, Lowes's inability to make them play, and the pigeons of the "no halfbacks" policy inevitably coming home to roost.
Today's debacle, therefore, whilst not in isolation an acceptable effort, isn't the point, and although it has cost the club maybe three quarters of a million pounds, it has spared us from humiliation in the big boys playoffs. The Coconut Shield is what we frankly deserve, and I have zero confidence that we will even win whatever it may be.
I started this as the cretinous Haggerty got himself binned, and NOTHING has happened as I type, the team looks utterly despondent, clueless, dispirited and shambolic. And there's the hooter.
I fear the worst now, I really don't know where we go from here, but disaster looms.
