When I first saw that Donaldson was leaving HKR my instant reaction was, get him signed up. Then when I thought a bit about it I realised I was basing my opinion on the young player with a lot of potential that left us a few years back. Without being too unkind I don’t think he has realised that potential. I agree that he is a grafter but as has been said, his attacking game is lacking.
I’d obviously welcome him back if he did return but I would sooner see a player with some fire/aggression in their game as that is something our team currently lacks.
Donaldson would not offer anything that say Sam Hallas doesn’t already bring to the squad.
Same goes for Olbison really. He is a strong runner and hard worker but wouldn’t add anything that Garside doesn’t already bring to the team.
I suppose they are former Bradford academy products and that in itself could be said to be valuable but we shouldn’t base our recruitment on sentiment/the past.
