"There is no hiding from the fact that this won’t be easy, but we are committed to delivering a squad and ultimately a club that our fans can be proud of again.”
Jolly good
Just as I've said previously; the rhetoric is fine, if a little vague but the truth is that without some "investment", in pretty short order, the club is a prime candidate to be going down. I'll be honest, playing in div2 isn't a great disaster to me, it's not a case of, "yonder there be dragons". I definitely don't want it to happen, of course but I followed the club in the nether regions before and even before that when there was only one division, so I'll live with it.
The real point, is that if he really means what he says about building, "a club to be proud of", the cheapest option is to try their utmost to retain the best of what we've got rather than lose the lot and start again.

... My thoughts is that if this goes wrong and we end up in the same position in a years time then we need to ask questions of the administrator for accepting a bid that most of us have potential doubts about and the RFL for ratifying a bid that most of us have potential doubts about.
Totally pointless. If this goes wrong then we will be back to square one or worse, and that will be the headache for the fans who support the club. We won't be in any position to ask any questions of any administrator or of the RFL, and anyway such questions would be as I say utterly pointless as the horse disappeared over the horizon, and as the RFL and administrator would probably wet themselves a the very suggestion that somehow they were obliged to answer any such questions.
Personally if we do eventually go tits I wouldn't even be that bothered about any answers to any such questions, even if there were some way to extract them. But the RFL in particular seem to be extremely adept at saying little or nothing and I don't expect that to change. I mean, as fans, we don't even yet know what the club has been told about its central distribution share. Why has that been kept secret?

YES, it is our own fault for getting into this mess in the first place, NO, I am not trying to deflect blame away from the club.
However, I reckon most of us would have preferred the big bucks potentially on offer from Mr(s) Koukash and we had a chance of getting in the oft mentioned sugar daddy/mummy that we need, and I find it odd that the bid appeared to be discounted so quickly.
Indeed. Though equally odd is that bidders like them, or indeed some Texan "oil billionaire", were so frugal as to bid so low that they would lose.

The other pertinent bit in that articel is bit about clubs being reluctant to release players at this stage of the season. Wonder if thats going to be excuse used if they fail to bring anyone in. 'well we tried to sign x,y and z but their current clubs wouldnt let them go'. Doesnt jibe with comments from FC yesterday about clubs ringing him asking what positions he needed, which sounds like their all too interested in letting players go.
These Millionaires couldn't bring themselves to offer a relatively small amount for the club which is why they didn't win. Well, I couldn't afford to offer £300k + a penny to win the bidding so I suppose Millionaires and myself have one thing in common. There is no point discussing them when they didn't actually offer the dosh needed. Koukash said last night he offered £1m to Wigan for Tompkins. He wouldn't offer £300k+ for a whole club. I am now a little bored with him and his publicity seeking.

Very true, though I'd accept that the ones they want to let go might not be the ones we really need. I'm very happy to accept that we have top get the right players. At the end of the day though, Franny must have had some specific target in mind when he mention the possibility of someone coming in before the Widnes match. Maybe this has fallen through [if it has!!] for other reasons or was always an outside bet.

Impression I got was that it was an outside bet to get it done in time for widnes game. Given takeover was only completed tuesday night/wednesday morning and registration deadline for this weeks games was yesterday it probably was a tall order to get a contract agreed that quickly, assuming were talking a permanent deal rather than a loan. Suspect whoever franny was hinting at will be first signing made.
