Most solicitors I know knocked off at 2pm today and went to the pub.

So they won't be sober enough to do any actual work until around 9th Jan 2017

I wouldn't despair it's pretty much there, and the terms of a sale like this takes a bit of work.

The secrecy is all about credibility, the new owner wants to OWN something before going public - old school
