I was in the New Beehive for the first time in a while last night. There were 4 or 5 ales on and the one I tried (Kelham Island Best) was decent. A dozen or so customers, mostly from Beehive Poets; no obvious psychopaths; and a single, inexperienced-seeming but friendly and helpful bar person (it was a Monday night).

I have predicted the demise of the New Beehive almost as often as Steven Jones has predicted the demise of RL, but both keep on trucking. Long may it continue.

I haven't been p there for ages. Did the Westgate really disappear or was it refurbishment?

The westgate was totally demolished then rebuilt. I remember FA recommended it once with hilarious consequences but its back now.

Used to be the go-to curry house. Well, for formica table curry, not yer posh stuff. Couldn't be beaten back in the day.

Haven't been in since it got tarted, hate the idea everyone can see where it is now.

Beehive/Westgate?Brings back a few good memories.
You always felt you were entering another world once you walked through door at the Beehive,but the Taylor's Landlord there could not be beat.
Is William still in charge?

Not sure who's in charge but there's was a familiar looking bloke behind the bar a few months back who I'm sure worked there in the early 90s. I used to love the Underground Set back then. Cool tunes and great beer. No other place in Bradford offered that combination after 11pm.

I've been in the Beehive a handful of times since then, it's suffered a bit like the rest of the city centre. I'm hopeful that there may be a bit of a renaissance in the coming years as this new place gets built nearby making a decent crawl between Sparrow and Beehive. Those new student halls being built near the Sparrow might help footfall too at that end of town.

He is, and he also runs Jacobs at the bottom of Manchester Road - top spot that one.
