I don't get this theory the the MPG is un-winnable as a championship side.
With 2 "fairly" matched sides surely the underdog has a chance in a game of 80 mins?
I agree WB ....
for me it only takes a Wakey or KR for example in freefall, low on confidence & unsettled to have a bad game & a Championship Club including Bulls, Fax to have a good game & there you have the ingredients for promotion.
Wakey, for example last season set their stall out to strengthen ready for the 8's, yet there is nothing to say they can do/afford to do this every season. I would be very surprised if Wakefield were spending more on the Cap than both Leigh & Bradford & I just don't buy into the theory that all SL Clubs/Teams are a million miles ahead of all Championship teams.
Surely the bottom 2 SL Clubs are at or close to the same standards as the top 2 Championship Clubs?
Only the week on week intensity of the SL competition differs for those who will meet in the 8's.
Leigh should have buried both KR & Wakey at the LSV in last seasons 8's & I don't see the same reoccurring should a similar game situation occur in the 2016 Play Offs.
It's easy to be despondent with the way you are currently performing but you still have the nucleus of a team that could challenge come the business end.

What a fantasist you are, they are better whether you like it or not. You didn't beat the worst Wakey team in SL history on your own turf last season - there are no should have buried them's you just didn't, end of. You certainly wouldn't have beaten us in the MPG.
Last year was the best chance any of you had of gaining promotion to SL. For one sesaon, one team Wakefield had dropped way out of contention and were not even remotely SL standard. Yet despite this were only beaten once by Championship opposition in a freak game against Sheffield.
Now Wakefield are back to something like SL standard, all be it bottom end. I don't kid myself that somehow we are a top side - we are not but we are at least for now a genuine SL team. We are certainly far better than last year as are most SL teams. There is always a chance of an upset on the day no one can be complacent, but it's a lot further away this year than last.
I detest Huddersfield but I guarantee you that the squad they have right now would walk the Championship.

Well, of course it would - it's a super league squad. If they were relegated, that squad wouldn't get the chance to, "walk the championship," as the majority of it would take up residence in other SL sides.

True, but someone has to relegate them first - it's a catch 22 I'm afraid.

As it stands no team will get promoted, the bottom of SL is far better than last season, Wakey for example wouldn’t need to strengthen this time round they are already good enough, I also think the championship teams aren’t as good as they were last year, hopefully from our (Leigh’s) point of view that’s due to our influx of new faces, injuries, change of coach and the fact we did peak too early last season, so a change in targets. But if the 8’s started tomorrow we’d be playing Batley and co again next year.
I see the penny is dropping more and more with people that last season was a freak, with an almost mortally wounded SL club. But it won't happen again.
Many have been referring to Wakey. How did they get on last weekend? Oh yes - beat Wigan 62-0. This, and the general standard of play of the other teams that is there for all to see, clearly shows that the current Super-8s is just window-dressing and that there is in reality no chance of promotion via the MPG. Those claiming "anything can happen", "one-off game" etc. are sadly just having themselves on.

Perhaps a couple of the results in the cup this weekend may prove (or argue against) the point. Wakefield and Sheffield especially looks a good marker for what may occur in this year's middle 8s.

It didn't last year.
