Mick Gledhill was very good, he gets a lot of stick both on here and other social media outlets (some justifiable some may say) but he comes across very knowledgeable and described the game very well.

As for his co-commentator, he should be embarrassed quite frankly!
Never heard so much tripe.
Constantly moaning about the Referee and throwing his toys out of the pram because Thaler wasn’t giving the decisions he thought wasn’t right.

this was my point earlier in the thread. Gledhill was excellent in the play by play commentary and is one of the best descriptive callers around only for hobbo to start ranting about the referee. I wasn't there but if the own count was 16 to Featherstone with the same errors how is it the refs fault?

From what I heard yesterday the bulls only have themselves to blame.

Re: BCBRadio : Mon Jul 25, 2016 12:13 pm
Mick is a good commentator. I don't deny it, I've been saying it all season and I do enjoy tuning in when I can't get to the away games. I like Hobbo too. He's terrible, but he's terrible in a way I personally find hilarious and I'm okay with it.

Mick deserves the stick he gets though. My favourite Mick moment was when he went on a massive rant earlier this year about the length of time the first half was taking. In the match he was claiming it had run about five minutes over. Later, when he posted pictures of his time sheet notes, the try that happened two minutes from the end of the half he had marked as happening on the 38th minute and the one five minutes before that was marked as happening on the 33rd minute. (Latter numbers made up, he posted it in the Bradford Bulls Supporter's Group on FB from which I have since been banned - the spirit is true though).

He does talk some needless nonsense that's of no benefit to anyone, least of all himself, and one can only guess at his level of respect for the business he's chosen that causes him to do it. Or indeed us as consumers if he thinks he's too clever for his audience. If he quits with that pointless nonsense I will have no quibble at all.

Appreciate the feedback and kind comments.

Yeah, that game you mention was the trip down in London where we called the game from on top of the scoreboard (crows nest so to speak) and the countdown clock wasn't the official time, hence why when the trys were scored I was actually guessing the time.

I've since invested in a stopwatch and now try to keep it as tight to the actual time by following the referee. Lesson learned from the above mistake.

That sounds like an excellent investment.

I will charitably presume for the sake of saying no more that the accuracy of your time sheet came from using the binoculars you already owned to copy someone else's.

Thanks for the feedback pal, glad you enjoyed it, we had over ten thousand listening again which just shows you big this club can be in.

Hopefully you detected I was calling it without bias.

Those binoculars were used by my grandad during the second world war, can get a bit blurry at times

To progress in this industry one has to show a degree of professionalsm and whilst the majority of listeners bleed Red, Amber and Black, I have never agreed with covering up performances by blaming the referee.

We have Rohan Smith in the studio next Friday answering supporters questions - if anyone wants to put a question in, please post here and I'll ask it.

Great Mick, here are some questions to be going on with:

    1. Was it a tactical decision to go with such a light forward pack on Sunday or were players unavailable due to injury?
    2. We seemed to find it hard to build pressure at any time on Sunday with our last tackle kicks often being of poor quality - why was that?
    3. The difference in line speed between ourselves and Featherstone was stark. In hindsight do you think the players were sufficiently motivated? How do you gauge whether a team is in the right place mentally before a game?
    4. Our second half performance was similar to the first. How much can a coach realistically do during a halftime break to lift a team that is underperforming?

And if he isn't totally depressed by this point:

    1. It was great to see the promotion of 6 U19s into the first team squad for 2017. Many supporters see the promotion from within as a way of building a new spirit in the club. Can we expect to see any make appearances in the championship shield?

    2. Have you spoken to Marc Green following the Featherstone game? If so are you able to give any assurances on the full time status of the team next season?

    3. Much has been made of Batley recruiting a part time squad on a budget of around £200k. Is there any scope for the Bulls to recruit part time players who may be of better quality than their fulltime counterparts?

    4. What do you think are the main areas of the team that need to be strengthened in order to put together a better side in 2017?

    5. It's been quite a torrid week for you, the players and the supporters. What have been the main lessons you've learnt?
