I'm not sure that's a very objective view of Toovey's time as coach at Manly.
I agree we need a coach that can get players to play above themselves. Any suggestions? Obvs Kear is now signed up at Wakey.
Well, I'll accept it's not a full blow by blow account of every minute he spent there, (as I'd never heard of him before he came over it was all blagged from the internet, tbh
) but as a thinned down precis, covering the bare essentials, I think it sums up the differences between his job at Manly and his current one here at the Bulls and, in that sense, I feel it is certainly objective, if nothing else.
Now he
may turn out to be the best coach we've ever had,
and be chosen for our 'team of the 21st century', and no-one would be more pleased than me if this turned out to be the case, but, and this is the whole point of my original post, I just don't see anything that jumps out from his previous coaching experience to suggest he is the man for our particular set of circumstances.
I hope he's given the owners something more solid about his intentions though, as they definitely need to get something sorted PDQ if he is leaving. Though I suppose it could be him who doesn't know if they want him to stay. Damn all this tight lipped stuff.....
