Re: Whitehaven (H) : Sun Aug 05, 2018 7:07 pm
Well with both results in I think we can properly reflect on a positive week from a bulls point of view.

I am surprised that a lot on here were not happy with the result. We’ve just beaten 4th in the league (a team that had won 6 on the bounce before playing us) 46-0. With the added pressure to not lose a game with york breathing down the necks I think that is a great result.

Yes we could have scored a few more and made less errors but that’s something every team reflects on after a game.

In comparison, york beat crusaders 30-0 I imagine they will have expected to beat them by more and effectively we are back in the position we were after our lose to york, same points but with 92 PD better off. I can only imagine the reaction from some if we ‘only’ beat crusaders by 30 at home.. hardly entertaining rugby and all.

We are ticking off the wins and hopefully it continues. Yes we can improve but we are league 1. We have plenty of room for improvement. York play Saturday against the raiders so they will go top and probably wipe out the 92 difference but we need to do our own thing. We are still to go to the raiders too so hopefully that will even put.

After all, despite the negatives and glory we here about york (no disrespect intended but) we are top for a reason. We’ve scored more points and we’ve conceded less to boot. Hopefully us and york both gain promotion. Us in first and york via the playoffs.

Don't think they had any KR players today. But remember if they've played so many games for KR on Dual Reg (think it might be 8?), then they can carry on going on dual reg rather than having to commit to one team or the other.

Didn't their dual reg players go from KR to Leigh as part of a player deal? If that is the case, unless Leigh want to loan them to York, they ain't going back.

I can't believe some posters thought 46 nil was a bad result the bulls did bomb lots of chances but I do think they tried to play a more expansive game , rather than five drives and, kick, this with various new players and particularly a new half back. Given time to settle the new players in we should be even better plus unexpectedly York bombed a great chance to eat into the points difference today.

On paper we had a tougher game than York this weekend, for us to increase our points difference by 16 is a really good result. I was expecting York to get about 20 points closer to us after this round of games.

I think some posters are being a bit harsh. I enjoyed the game on Saturday, can you imagine the comments if we had lost.It was what it was at the end of the day another 2 points.

The game was a bit stop start, but that was because of the way the game was ref’d. There were mistakes that prevented additional tries, but many of those mistakes looked to players just being a half second off timing wise. But that’s what happens when you bring in new players, especially halves. As I said on the day, when some of those little inventive plays start sticking someone’s in for a hiding.

I thought that it was an absolutely awful game to watch. Heaps of mistakes and an inconsistent refereeing performance. Nevertheless a 46-0 win is better than I expected. We increased our points difference gap over York so that was a bonus.

Pickersgill and Lilley stood out and there was a heck of a shift from Crossley. Some others were below par. Whitehaven were very poor. We could've had 60.

A couple did yeah, but they've had others play for them this year who are still at KR. No idea how many games each of them have played though.

There is a lot of harsh criticism on here some of which is justified. To say it is the worst game of rugby ever seen is I think a bit over the top. I thought it was a game of two halves - the first half was pretty much error free( I know there were some but not many) and we scored 4 tries. The start of the second half was pretty poor we made error after error in the first 20 or so minutes but it did improve after that and there were certainly some positives. Firstly we nilled them and secondly we scored some really good tries - in fact all four tries were pretty good in their own way. So I would say all in all not a bad weekend particularly with York's result.
