because of purtell re-signing or some other reason?. Baille isnt a quota player so purtell staying doesnt affect him but there's been plenty of rumours that baille wasn't settling well and wanted releasing from 2nd yr of his deal to go back to france.

Thats also a point for a few of others that appear to be surplus to requirements. It easy so say we'll release them and sign someone else but if they agree to go by mutual consent then we have to pay them off and that counts on next years salary cap.

Not sure what I feel about this one. Purtell is steady, but no more than that for me. A two year deal seems odd for someone who has hardly set the Championship on fire, especially if we are serious about SL

Guess this means Henry isn't sticking around?

Of more concern to me is that most of those who were on one year deals have now been extended - Purtell, Mullaney, Sidlow, Mellor, Halahifi etc. Even if Shaw, Baille and Henry depart that still leaves us with a big squad and not a lot of scope for adding/improving.

Look at the list on the pinned topic on this forum and you'll see what I mean, we already now have something like 25 or 26 players now signed for 2016. Maybe add Caro and Ryan and the squad looks almost complete for next year (bearing in mind Ferres said it would be a smaller squad next year)

My point is that if this squad can't get us up this year will it next year? And if does get us up is it good enough to compete in SL?

If not sure I'm overly thrilled at this news. Purtell has been a decent servant to the club in the short time he's been here, but 2 years to a guy past 30? That's a risk

What an absolute joke of a decision. Purtell is done and has been for a while now. And we give him a two year deal FFS!?!

The way I see it is- Purtell is probably just about too good for championship and not good enough for top of Super League... So considering the position of the club is kinda unknown at the minute, I am ok with it... We could do worse!

Also there is an argument not to have a wholesale of changes again! Whilst without question we need to add quality... A team that has played over a season together is better than 5/6 core players and a whole load of new.

Please say your on a windup? Keeping Purtell I can understand although I'll be annoyed if its at Henrys expense who I think has decent potential going forward. Walkers offered nothing this year and would be a ridiculous waste of cap space.
