Lowes was a great player for us but I fear he could tarnish that reputation by taking this job on. I hope he’s got some firm commitments from Green regarding assistant coaches etc. He’ll need all the help he can get. Possibly there isn’t an assistant announced because Lowes would want to choose them and he wasn’t confirmed until today. I think we need to be patient but I just hope he’s not doing this on his own for very long.
As far as his coaching record goes he had a go at Salford as an assistant where it went ok for a while but ended badly. There were a few stories doing the rounds about his interactions with fans at that time which didn’t sound like the sort of thing a well balanced man in charge would do but even the great Sir Peter Fox had run ins with supporters. His very brief spell at Warrington wasn’t great and that was with a much better set of players. Since then he’s been an assistant to Tony Smith (sounds familiar) and been head coach below elite level in union.
Has he got the ability and the brains to react to situations in a calm way rather than the emotional way? I remember him being held back from tearing Russell Smith limb from limb after the 2002 grand final. I hope he’s able to control that passion as a coach as you need more than passion to be a good coach.
It doesn’t fill me with enthusiasm. I was hoping more for Morrison who seems more level headed and has NRL experience and Championship experience. A 3 year deal seems a bit long too. We’ve been burnt in the past by giving a long contract to an inexperienced coach. Even Potter only got 2 years and he was miles more experienced than Lowes. That seems to me like a mistake from the board, I’d say 2 years with an option for a third.
Anyway, Lowes it is. I expect to see an improvement in attitude on the field at least. The bloke was a winner and we need a few more of them around.
Meh. We all know you're only covering your backside against mystic eddie. Still, your abject capitulation to the NT has been logged. Shame on you.
Have to say, welcome home, Jimmy. Hope everything pans out positively and I can't imagine his appointment will fail through lack of effort on his part.
He had a fairly torrid time at Salford and then Wire, but you learn more from hard times than you do than when everything is coming up roses. Jimmy is a bright bloke and, like most of us do, I'm sure he's taken the lessons from those days and is ready to put it all into practice.
It can't be the same as all season, otherwise they wouldn't have announced a price increase in the same article as the coach announcement.
In real terms the buy in advance will not be fully utilised, especially by away fans, ergo a price increase.
Read the article again, yes your right (my bad), looks like a £0.50 increase on game day.
Interesting time to increase the ticket prices, people must really want to watch the team and the talent we have on show, so the club are obviously wanting to cash in.

Sounds like you're suggesting we may need to budget for a cherry picker to stand in the car park and go over the terrace, Bullseye..

Are these not the prices for Sunday's game at Warrington? A 50p increase if you buy tickets on the day instead of in advance? I didn't read it as a price increase at home games.

That's what it reads like to me too. Unless we've knocked up a north and west stand since last week
Depends whether you make it through another close season or not or do your usual trick of falling over.
But if they do the new SL1 teams next year have a big increase in central cash and a massive advantage in retaining their status under the new structure. 2015 really is a massive year as odds on promotion will get even longer in future seasons. Even if they couldn't best us on the pitch they played a much better hand off it and stuck the knife in with Scruton and Sammut.
My goodness, I have had some stick on here before but I have never been accused of THAT sort of thing.
Anyway, you are more my type FA.
I know, but Mrs. Aardvark doesn't, so keep it under wraps will ya?

As for the appointment of Lowes? Only time will tell.
You mean your powers of foretelling the future have gone? What happened? I did warn you about eating that Green Haggisite.
I do hope this can be fixed, because if/when it next all goes wrong for the Bulls, I for one will miss you coming on here and telling us all that you called it and we were all fools to be taken in.
