Blaming the pitch is a bit desperate. It's the same for both teams. With ball in hand we made very hard work of scoring in the first half on Sunday despite having loads of possession and field position whereas Barrow made it look much easier with hardly any time on our line.
Our problem in attack is down to a lot of things. PTBs are very slow making service to 1st receiver slow which puts us immediately on the back foot. Then service from halfbacks to outside backs is slow - what is that slow run by the halfback to the middle before moving the ball wide actually achieving? Then passes aren't on the chest of receivers making them check their run which further helps the defence. By the time Gill gets it (we didn't seem to attack down the right on Sunday) he's got defenders all over him.
Murphy should be nowhere near the centres - he's a second row if anything at his age. His selection in the centres is really negative IMO.
The slow PTB is down to us not dominating the collision - we stand too flat and we trundle it up too slowly and get turtled too often. That's down to lack of enthusiasm and poor technique. When we came back into the game in the last 10mins it was when Scurr and company decided to really come onto the ball at pace and we got a quick PTB.
I could go on forever but this is basic stuff.
