Despite the attempt at positive spin from the McNamara appologists on here there is still the fact that we're one win (a win we might not have got if not for a VR) from 6 games. That's nearly a quarter of the season gone and we're way off pace to even make the play-offs. As far as I can see, there's enough skill in the squad to make our current league position questionable. We are not a bad side though we do have weak spots, mainly in the back line, but even so I think the team are still using tactics from 2003.
We don't have 2 extra forwards mascarading as wingers any more. We've got a couple of wingers who've got a bit of pace, so what's wrong with a suprise early kick in the tackle count for them to chase? It's unlikely as Deacon is set in his ways and will give the same kick every time and always on the 5th tackle. You watch any defence against Bradford and 5th tackle theres always someone ready to go for Deacs. Which raises it's own tactical questions. If we've got someone coming out of the line to go for the kicker then there's a gap. What's wrong with faking the pass to Deacon and trying to cut thru towards the try line? Or am I being really naive in thinking that doing something unexpected might get you a try?
I still feel that McNamara is tactically inept and that as much as people on here rattle on about performances and giving the coach time etc etc it won't change what a lot of people can now see. We won't win anything while McNamara remains as head coach
