I actually felt a bit nervous throughout this game as I thought Bradford were on the front foot a lot of the game and when I saw our team named with so many key players missing I thought it might be tight especially with 2 backs and a hooker on the bench. Luckily we got an early score and ground it out from there. No doubt Fax will pick up more bans from the game but the clear instigator of the coming together was Flanagan after what was a nothing tackle by Fairbank and hopefully Patton picks up a lengthy ban as there is certainly no place in the game for what he did.
For me Bradford look like they need a complete reset and you have to feel sorry for your new coach as he really had no chance taking over this team.
I thought it was a very average game and whilst Fax were nowhere near their best we coped well enough with as poor a Bradford side as I can remember seeing for a long time. Still, two more points in the bag and an enjoyable day out, the highlight being a couple of pre match pints in the ever excellent Corn Dolly. Up The Fax!
I thought that was mainly the Fev fans mixed in with us. The bulls fans around us were applauding. The general feeling was that was a much improved performance on recent weeks.
No offence intended because you’re generally a voice of reason however if that was much improved… we really are in a mess. I genuinely fell asleep part way through the 1st half and could only watch 10 minutes of the 2nd, the quality from both sides was low. Ryan Brierley rated Halifax as the 2nd best side in the Championship beforehand, they certainly didn’t show that quality yesterday, although perhaps they knew they didn’t need to.
I suspect it is going to be a very long wait til this season is done, with little to cheer about. I’m sure the Cumbrian clubs will be targeting our fixture for a scalp, if they turn up enthusiastically and fight for every inch then can turn over our lads. I’ve seen nothing to suggest next year will be any better with reduced resources (season tickets sales WILL be down) and uncertainty over central funding. Doyle etc will be picked up by a SL club and Bradford will just fill the shirts with whatever is left.
Anyone give an unbiased summary of what happened regarding sending offs? I was watching the football in the 2nd half so evidently missed the most exciting part of the dull fest.
Improved as in we had energy, fight, enthusiasm. The chase back to cover the Halifax break in the second half and prevent a try showed me we had found some team spirit which had been lacking. Set completion rates were pretty good I think. There were a couple of individual errors again but our goal line defence was better.

Can watch for yourself below. Im obviously a Fax fan but to the looks of my eyes Fairbank drops a player which on first impression to the Bradford players looks a high tackle, on the replay its a fair shot on the Bradford players shoulder. That causes Flanegan to run towards our players and then another Bradford player, Im not sure who it is, goes even further and gets in the face of a Fax player. Joe Martin then takes it upon himself to run in to try to get to the 2nd Bradford player before 3 players restrain him one being Dec Patton who appears to gouge Martin's eye or at the very least rake his face.
With every viewing Patton's actions look worse and worse.

I thought the game in general was just a poor standard of rugby, from both sides. Everyone looked to be moving in slow motion. We have no attacking threat whatsoever, nobody with any pace or agility, and yesterday we had literally one guy on the pitch with any ball playing ability so Fax just kept the pressure on him.
Our game was followed by Leigh v Fev and it almost felt like they were playing a different sport to us such was the difference in class. Pretty depressing tbh.

In fairness I think the only people not to see the incident was the ref and joe Martin, that’s only because his eye was on the end of pattons finger nail .

Not going to go in to the ins and outs of the performance people will have their own opinions but what i will say is the booing of Sam Hallas when he came over to applaud the fans was an utter disgrace. Way out of line in my book.
