Im not surprised there was not too much discussion about what happen if OSV does not happen if we are that confident as a club about it progressing. And I hope the confidence is well placed, we've been here before however, although there does seem to be more substance and support for this one than previous schemes... there is still a part of me which wont belive it until I have a new shiny roof over my head whilst watching from the new stands.
I agree we'll get no staduim points on the next licence if we've not started the build, presumamably same goes for Cas, Wakey, Saints, Salford, etc. Lots of plans along the M62, hope there is not a shortage of JCB's in 2010 as a result
. But even with no stadium points Im sure our licence would be renewed, only C holders will be at any risk next time IMHO. The RFL would be sensible if they asked new applicants and C holders to do full submissions and A/B holders to do trimmed ones.... so that probably wont happen
Also if the applications for C are brought forward it would be interesting for all C holders and new applicants, still a way off that though IMO.
IIRC we had 7 points last time? And 5-7 = B License?
If no stadium progress and IF we finish outside top 8 this year and next year and if crowds stay at this sort of level (heaven forbid to both) then we'd gain 1 point for no cap breaches, lose 1 for crowds less than 10k, lose another for stadium less than 40% full and probably lose another for not being in top 8 on average (the criterion about making a positive contribution to the competition, where they indicate this is how they would likely judge that. That would mean 5 points and still a B License - just - I presume. So on that basis, and provided the goalposts not moved, you'd hope we would be safe.
My concern always remains that if enough of the current C-graders/aspirants continue to do well on the park, and if they get their new/upgraded stadia out of the blocks, we could conceivably find ourselves in a big scrum with them. What price then for the RFL saying they'd rather have a development area new club than than one in the middle of a load of other top-flight clubs geographically?
Get the OSV moving and we are a nailed-on A or B License and ought to be well safe under the current criteria.
