Having the money to be able to afford to invest in a SL club takes more than a million....ask Ken Davy or David Hughes. Dr K at Salford is going to discover how expensive a hobby it can be.

323,684 Properties in the UK valued at a million+.....adding another 1,500 to that number very week... Millionaires are ten a penny nowadays.

Wasn't it "selling them cheap" that was fairly instrumental in getting you into the current position?
People value what they pay for, dumping a product onto the market devalues the product.

As I've said elsewhere, when the season tickets were sold cheaply, they were TOO cheap. The board at the time clearly thought that people would be turning up every week and spending money to cover the short fall from the reduced ticket prices. That didn't happen. But a reduced priced ticket for a fixed number of games is something I think would be a winner. I know several people who can't go to every game due to other commitments so something like this would appeal to them.

This sort of offer is usually - as in the Bulls offer last season - well into the season due to the risk of season ticket holders down trading, so the consequent reduction in sales value is more likely to be greater than the gain. For each full season ticket holder down trading you would need at least three casual uptradersons.

The club should really push the 2 home pre season friendlies as 'balance the books' games. Contact all 11,000 previous season ticket holders asking them to come along to help the cause. If they charge £20 and get 10,000 at each game that's the full 400k. Not sure if we would need to split the gates with the opponents but even if we did that would still wipe off half the deficit. Just a thought.

I agree, sounds like a great idea... almost sounds to good to be true though... :?:

I think someone said it would take 3500 to break even on cost, not sure if this is the case or not.

I would certainly pay £20 if it was going to help and in return watch 80 minutes of rugby even if it was a friendly!!

I suppose I was being a bit over optimistic with wiping off the full 400k, since you have to take off the costs of opening the stadium, plus some of the crowd would be kids/oaps paying less. But I still think the club should really get behind advertising these games as a way of fans helping the cause. If turning up to watch prevents us selling players then maybe people will get behind it?

Really the club could do with getting some big numbers in for the pre-season games. But I doubt people will be willing to pay full price for friendlies.

£10 if bought in advance £16 on the gate might be a better way

In theory it's a very good idea.Be interesting to see what they charge for admission, bit cheaper to try get more there? But yes this should be really pushed to try get as many there as poss to make as big a dent as poss into the 400 grand.Need some marketing ideas to get folk there, not just we need your money to survive, again

I'd also make sure there's plenty of coffee/tea stands set up too. Winter at Odsal is never fun.

In fact they'd probably make a bomb on hot food and drink at these games if they can get enough people in.

Or how's about offering a discount to season ticket holders?
