Squeaky bum time for Green, Ferres and, in particular, Lowes. We simply have to win next week or a very long period in the wilderness beckons. That ought to be motivation enough except that if Wakefield go down their prospects are even worse. The future of rugby league in two West Yorkshire cities is on the line.
Poor by Lowes for me, he put no pressure on Wakey today, if you'd have won yesterday it still force Wakey to turn up and expend more effort. Wakey could have put out their under 12's today because of Lowes' bad decision.
His thinking on this is most definitely flawed, yes you could have put your full team out, still lost and picked up injuries, but you could have won, got home advantage and more money in your coffers.
Lowes job is to prepare his team for the biggest game of the year next week. He took the view that resting up some players who have had a long campaign and were perhaps carrying knocks was more advantageous than 'putting pressure on Wakefield'. I'm sure he expected more from the players he picked and wasn't looking to lose the game even if it wasn't really our main focus.
What is important now is seeing whether Lowes can prepare the players so they're in the right frame of mind for the big match.

Looking at the side Wakefield put out against Sheffield I think we have a decent chance. The only obvious improvements for them would be to play the 2 Smiths and Locke.
Brian Smith on radio Leeds was very adamant that neither Locke or Tim Smith would play next week.
Yes, Agree that let's put an end to yesterdays game. What was done is now over. If I was a Wakey fan I would be a little concerned about next week. The Bulls will be out to get their own back as we did at Leigh. Wakey are definitely beatable. They are a team of average players who finished bottom of the SL teams twice this year - league and in the play-offs.
We have one game in which to perform. There are no pre-made excuses for the players and especially the coach. Win and you are cheered and applauded. Lose but give everything you have and you will be patted on the back and told "good effort lads". Lose convincingly with lack of effort - well, get ready for a seasons worth of ordinary performances criticism come down on your heads.
It is now up to you Jimmy and the lads. Good luck from thousands of fans with their fingers crossed.
There never was any chance of a home tie and this always was a dead rubber. Lowes has got us to the big game by picking his matches and this one was not targeted. The poor performance of the stiffs that did play is of course quite another matter, if ever they had an incentive to bust a gut then that was it, instead... But yes, he treated it correctly as a pointless game, to get out of the way and test some reserves. They failed
