Hmmm. I bet Platt wishes he could be afforded the same sort of leeway that the crowd awards to Halley on a regular basis.

I agree. I also think Platt works the goal line far better than Halley and his physical presence would have been an asset today. If Platt had shown the indecision Halley had on the sideline and then knocked on under pressure as Halley subsequently did he'd have been murdered on here. Platt's a scapegoat, as we know, he's done some dumb things, but he's nowhere near as bad as some make out.

I can accept failure, but I can't accept not trying.

I think most reasonable fans can think of positives and negatives for both players. I think Platt's one on one defence is also stronger than Halley's. I agree that Platt has at times come in for some unfair criticism and I have fought his corner on occasions. But this year Halley has on the whole been the much better player for us. Personally I feel much more at ease when a kick is being gathered by Halley. But less confident when a big prop breaks through one on one like we have seen in the last two games.

And you have to remember he has far less experienced at FB than Platt so he should continue to improve with further gametime.

Platt didnt even look reserve level yesterday, didnt want to know at all, if hes took his bat and ball home let him go, halley made a couple of mistakes today, but would platt have done any better, would anyone? saints got a roll on and faasavalu/puletua running straight at you is gonna make any fullback indecisive, maurie ran at halley but he stood his ground, slowed him down by going for legs, summat no other bulls player did, and made him offload to one of the many supporting players who was subsequently tackled, he could have backed off, or pooed his pants, i know most of us on here would if you had a 17stone monster running at you.

Halley did have a poor game today, but so did numerous others. I don't see anyone slating Burgess for example who really struggled today (probably his worst game for a couple of years). Menzies also struggled after the first 20 minutes or so.

In the same way as Burgess and Menzies though, Halley can be afforded the odd poor game when his form in other games has been excellent. If poor form continues, you'd hope he would lose his place and Platt be given another chance, as the better form player should always be picked. However slating him for one game seems a little OTT.

I'd also echo the point that in the same way some praise Halley no matter how he plays, others slate him no matter how he plays. One rather obvious example of which is on this thread.

Agreed. Menzies was the worse player on the pitch yesterday. Noone is slating him today.

Menzies was garbage. He should be sent back home immediately. Will that do?
BTW, Halley is not big enough for a top level FB.
