Zaaras is good, but I wouldn't recommend for a take away. Same price as eating in (not cheap) and very poor portions. Eating in though, the food is amazing. The ambience felt a bit er...whats...the word? Snobby maybe? It's not a very down to earth place.

Did you go wearing your Bulls shirt and bermuda shorts? Might explain the atmos

Along with Mitch 'n Helen I can also recommend Zaara's.
Smallish smart bisto style of place with less than 50 covers and 5 waiting staff on at 7:30. so great service that was friendly and efficient especially with the owner buzzing around. Decor is the now familiar bright and breezy modern chic without going over the top. We liked that the tables for two were of a decent size.
Snacks to start were 4 fresh fried poppadoms with 4 excellent chutneys - tomato, spinach, raita and a cracking mango. £3.20. The chutneys were left on the table for later dipping.
Next a shared starter of a special sizzler (so it it was described on the menu) of 2 sheik kebabs, plus one each of lamb, chicken and fish. I'd put the kebabs down for a 7/10 but the others were delicious. £4.75
For mains the wife had a quite buttery Chicken Korma which passed muster without being exceptional £5.75 My Lamb Pindi with okra in a geat sauce was as good a dish as I've tasted anywhere else. £6.95
4 chappatis were just nicely crisped on the outside. £2.40.
A Coke £1.50 and a 330ml bottle of Cobra £2.50 were expensive but to be expected I suppose.
The portions were adequate tho customers with large appetites would be a little disappointed.
So £23 for the meal itself which to us was fair value for the high overall quality, service and relaxed ambience.
Worth a future visit. There are some dishes that bear further tasting. The Mustard Aloo Gobi sound interesting and the Achari ones.

Our lass went on a work do to Zaara's. They had the early bird which is £12 for a starter, main and half a bottle of wine each. Sounds like a good deal. She said the food was more Indian than Pakistani and was really good.

I'll be going some time soon.

I went to the Karachi last Friday, had a delicious chicken bhuna, it was v spicy though, more than I remember them being in the past. Excellent value as always.

Was in Akbar's on Greek Street, Leeds last Saturday.

As usual food was cracking although I tried a dish called 'Gohst Pathwari' (aplogies for spelling errors). A lovely dish if you like lamb and mushrooms with a bit of a spicey kick.

The only problem with the place was half of the Rhino's squad was in (Such as Smith, Webb, Buderus, Peacock, Eastwood, McGuire, Kirk). I mean, do you really want to place your order AFTER Eastwood...........?

Please can someone do a curry guide report, talking about the current Bulls predicament is getting a little depressing.

Went to Zaara's in Saltaire/Shipley. It was ok without being outstanding. Service was good. Got seated quickly and well looked after. Pickle tray was a bit poor. Some good variety of starters. Our mains were average. Not overly expensive. Would say that for a fancy "sit down and eat with cutlery" curry that the food (a la carte not buffet) wasn't as good as the Aagrah but the service was heaps better, although compared with the Aagrah that's not hard!

Last week was at the newly opened restaurant Paprika (attached to their existing take-away) not a million miles from you on New Line, Greengates.
Pickles were OK but nothing special and the mixed starter the same even if fairly decent in portion.
Curiously non informative descriptions of some dishes on the menu.
" Chitali Kufta Naag - mouth watering fish dish that is highly recommended by the chef, the aroma tells you everything about the taste"
Despite this we ordered the Paprika Special with a similar vacuous description "succulent pieces of chicken breast cooked with our own herbs and spices" Whatever was in it was pretty damn good with unusual flavours to tickle a jaded pallet.
The Salom we ordered again had a different twist with methi and mild bullet chillies and was excellent.
Both had good portion sizes but not so the side dish of Aloo Gobi and the taste was good but not memorable.
Top marks to the mains from a lenghy choice of interestingly different dishes.
Will definitely go again to try some of these others even if we have to pay full price rather than the 50% we got this time as an opening offer
