You are propably thinking of one of the 'rice and three' curry cafes. Most likely This and That or Yadger cafe. Both of which are excellent.

The rice and three cafes are unique to Manchester. Simple places, originally set up to feed the India workers in the Manchester mills. Think Karachi but more canteen style and only open during the day.

Have a read here if you are a curry enthusiast:

Do you think Gordon Ramsay's gourmet bus would be big enough to accommodate all our great mates?

Can I barge in on this?

Also, suggestions of a good curry house in York would also be appreciated. I've three hours to kill before a Sean Lock performance next week.

Went to see Sean Lock a couple of weeks back. Some of it was very good. Some of it was a bit average. All in all he was alright with being side splitting.

We went from work and everyone enjoyed it. I had Keema Peas and it was fantastic. Bear in mind when the bloke tells you the balti dish is hot he means it. I still had to touch it anyway and I could hear my fingertips sizzle. Why do I always do that instead of taking their word for it?

A CHALLENGE! : Fri Oct 29, 2010 8:17 pm
I know this should go in the curry guide but i feel this is an exception. I have been eating curries for the best part of 35 years and never have i had a curry as good and hot as this. The lamb lahori at the medina in brighouse is like curries used to be. If you can tackle it i take my hat off to you!
