Come back Caisley - all is forgiven : Mon Apr 06, 2009 12:09 pm
I dont think that the current chairman has the balls or bottle to sort out the mess that this club is in now.Ever since Chris Caisley left this club is going into rapid freefall.I'm sure Caisley would not have put up with the mess the the current incumberent is letting the club go into.
Watching Mcnamara on the touchline late in the game he was just stood there watching with that vacant look on his face.He should have been shouting at the players and at least try to inspire some motivation and not appear as a passive spectator.
As per most of the posts on this message board,I agree that the only way the club is going to start turning things around,is when McNamara and the assistant coaches(Richards and St.Hilaire) are relieved of their duties and a new coaching set up is put in place.

Is that the same Chris Caisley that put up with the salary cap infringements and instigated the IH affair or a different one?

Although I agree that Hood needs to act now regarding McNamara, it is unfair to be critical of a guy thats pulled us out of a financial black hole - left from CC.

It seems to me that Caiseley was around for the glory years and all was well and good but it was unsustainable and not managed in the best way possible. For me I think Caisley knew it was all going T*ts up and abandoned a sinking ship. With regards to Hood, the proof will be in the next few years as to whether he's righted the ship and started it sailing in the right direction. I believe he will and his loyalty to mcNamara, (whilst questionable on some fronts) will hopefully be repayed.

Agreed ! Although I dont think that the Iestyn Harris affair and salary cap deduction in 2006 was Hood's fault.

I rather suspect that the reasons and causes responsible for Caisley's departure have a direct bearing on the situation we are in now.

Caisley knew he was getting out before the brown stuff hit the fan.

He got the club into the current mess(Harris etc, etc) and didn't have the b*%&s to stay and sort out his mess.

Whilst he undoubtedly did some good things for the club I can't forgive him basking in the limelight of the glory years and then leaving others to clean up his mess as soon as things started to get bleak.

GOOD RIDDANCE I SAY

That's hilarious, and not not even a hint of irony.

Remind me who thrashed out the Odsal deal and the Harris signing?

Caisley was interviewed in RLW a few months back, reading that gave me the impression that he was a little out of touch with the realities of running a club the way SL had evolved.

He was the man in charge when a lot of good things happened, but I don't think he was the person to take the club into the future.
