More Teamwork Needed - Whitehead : Thu May 12, 2011 10:59 am  

Seems Whitehead's confirmed what I suspected about the lack of teamwork and communication currently affecting performances>

Anyone got any ideas how the team could be brought together? Back in the late 90s Wigan brought in Frank Endacott who fostered a team spirit by taking the squad on the ale which worked but you couldn't really do mid season.

I remember going on a work team building event back in 97 that had Matt Elliott as a presenter. He said the sort of events office workers go on only seem to have a positive effect for a week or two and that coaches in sports teams have more latitude to bring in new people and get rid of the people they don't want.

Potter can't make wholesale changes now so what does he do?

well - we've already tried starting preseason training early.
we've also been away for warm-weather training.
The only other options are working on a farm in the dales for a long weekend or doing something army related

As Franny Cummins says on this weeks Bullseye a chance to have a settled playing 13 would go a long way to improving the season!

But the injuries show no sign of letting up which means the cycle of less than 100% fit players having to play and exacerbating any injuries being carried continues!

I remember a few years back out then coach, David Hobbs, decided that rather than do the usual pre-season stuff they would spend much more time cycling around the dales. I don't think the results of this inspirational move were exactly spectacular, but it's at least debatable, as to whether we were actually worse than this season.
