"Diskin has had a great season" ?????!!!! Do you go to games? We are significantly quicker and more dangerous when Heath and O'Brien are on the field. How he got a new contract is beyond me. I just hope this doesn't result in O'Brien getting itchy feet.
MD is carrying a stone too much timber at least, many times he can't get to the ruck in time. I'm a big supporter of FCC, but I have to say I can't see the logic in giving Disco a new contract whilst O'Brien sits in the stands (unless it looks / looked like Heath was going)
Its a team game. Diskin (and Scruton and Langley and all those other permanently injured players that cannot make 5cms a carry so should be got rid of RIGHT NOW end quotes) does the dirty work first stint against a fresh attack and defence so that Heath (10kg lighter) can come on and do the eye candy stuff with Nas and all those other flash harrys.
In which case Heaths stats should be better than Diskins as Heaths usually up against more tired players. But they are not. So Diskin is actually the better player. 3 tries to nil this season, more tackle busts against fresh first line defence, etc etc.
As for the idea that Obrien at 20kg lighter should do the first stint instead of Diskin, what sort of a dumb idea is that? Let me think, I am an 18 stone experienced prop, who am I going to run at, another 18 stone prop or an 11 stone midget that I could squash with one foot? You just about saved yourself with the qualification "if Heath was going" which is a possibility at the end of his contract and gives O'brien more time to develop into Heaths role. Diskin carrying on for one more year gives time to look at a successor in the Cunningham/Newton mould.
For the sake of clarity, your idea was dumb, not you, you are usually a lot better than that. I think you got caught up in the suggestion earlier in the season that we didnt need at least 5 props, we needed bucket loads of centres instead. A nice idea but totally impractical if the opposition stick to their props.
