A Rugby League Event in Wyke Library. : Sun Dec 08, 2013 9:28 pm  

The Try Reading project was an initiative organised by various northern libraries aimed at encouraging more people to get into reading, writing and using their local library more while at the same time helping give publicity to the Rugby League World Cup. Well the World Cup may be over now although its legacy will continue but there are still a few Try Reading events to be held.
One will be on Thursday early evening (December 19th) starting at 5 p.m. in Wyke Library. I have been invited to talk about how I have written five novels all with a Rugby League background in a series that stretches from 1962 to 2003.
For more details have a look at the Try Reading web site and particularly if you have ever thought that you could write a novel based on your own life and times, which is basically what I did.

I thought they tore Wyke library down?

They did, but a new library was incorporated when the Appleton academy school was built over the road.

Has anybody here read any of my five novels?
I have been told that members of the Wyke Library Readers Group will be among the audience. They have read my latest novel "Two Seasons" so it will be interesting to hear the views of people who may not necessarily like rugby.
