That game made me tut and roll my eyes. Yes I was THAT mad.

In todays relegation watch London were stuffed and wakefield lost narrowly.

Bulls v Cas post game chat : Sun Feb 16, 2014 5:16 pm
Gonna be a long, hard season. Or it may be over next week. We needed 4 points from the 1st 2 games badly, and we aren't going to have them.

Two pretty poor sides on show today. The main difference was that the Bulls killed themselves off, by repeated stupid infirngements, giving themselves extra sets to defend, but much worse, on at least 3 occasions, criminally handing the ball to Cas on the 1st or zero tackle inside our own 20.

All this meant that we had so much extra defensive work to do, it was just inevitable that we would be the team that ran out of steam. You could see the collapse coming; when Cas did the length of the field move, nobody at any stage was coming out to meet them, we were all fooked, standing about and back pedalling. Anybody can score against you if you do that.

Gale is too erratic. He started the rot with an awful last tackle play early in the second half that put us under pressure, and he put us under even more pressure late in the half when he had a hissy fit and shoved himself into the tackled player, which he must have know the ref would penalise. Idiot. I don't care about the reason, it was just unprofessional.

Thought our MOM was Purtell, by a long way. Shame he couldn't go the length on that run, but he worked so hard and was everywhere. Don't know what Gaskell's role was supposed to be. If he is to replace Sammut then somebody needs to come up with a plan for what they actually want him to do.

Addy and Scruton did OK, and i felt sorry for Kear doing 90 metres, only to be called back. It was nice that he got an ovation as he made his way back.

On the strength of that, if we do get any points docked, then we are good as down. We will struggle anyway if we cannot somehow teach the team to respect possession, but that has been a very longstanding bugbear. Wakey next week really is do or die, early in the season though it is.

Some silly errors kept Cas in it, and then as soon as we hit the hour mark our players just ran out of gas. WHY they tired is a concern, this is the start of the season and energy levels should be at a maximum.
Cas looked perfectly fine at the hour mark, which is precisely why they went on to walk in three unanswered tries.

We lacked any real flair - there is nobody in our team that the opposition will fear now that Sammut has left. Gale was poor, Gaskill only slightly better.

In the second half, Castleford were getting over the half way line every set whereas we struggled to get outside our own 40. It was obvious we had run out of steam. I'm worried after that.

We have to win games like this. Cas/Wakefield/Widnes etc at home. We have to. And we didn't. Wakefield away in front of the sky cameras next. They have a point to prove. Sammut will have a point to prove. It doesn't look good.

Well good to see we learnt nothing from last season! Score a try and then go to sleep. First tackle, give the ball away. Get in front again and let in the softest of tries! That game was winnable we just didn't seem to want to win it! If we play like that every week we will finish on minus points!
I hope we have news of players coming in this week!We need another decent Prop. Sidlow was probably the pick of the bunch today, Nas and Scrutes were not worth their money along with Walker. Henry looks like he could be a handful if we pass him the ball, and Kear would have a field day feeding off him if we pass the ball to him....
Suppose nobody really expected any different though!
We did look good in spells but only in the first 50 minutes.

If we lose on Thursday we are in massive trouble. The only team I can see us beating is London. The advantage of having Sammut is that he can hurt any team in the league, so Wakefield will always have a chance. Us on the other hand...

If FC thinks Bradford are the fittest they have been he's been on the Christmas sherry, Gale was poor need's to get a thinking head on. if any team wants to see how to commit footbal suicide inside their 40mtr line you just had to look at us today giving tries away to the Tigers.

Can't really improve on that. Agreed fully about the stupid giving the ball away. Agree Purtell seemed to be clear MOM. Didn't help that we are seriously short of big men down the middle. Cas just kept pounding it out and, crucially, made far fewer mistakes. The mistakes were what made the difference in the end.

Today's game was a four pointer - first round of he bloody season and its a relegation four pointer. Next Thursday's game is likewise, and the omens do not look good. With such a small squad, and the huge financial handicap let alone all the fekking bollox going on regarding ownership and points deductions and fekk knows what else, we need something to give us some hope - and quickly.
