I'd have thought that Magic was a profit making exercise rather than needing 'contributions? Contracted players don't need any more money to play in these games, and for expenses, other than sharing the cost of stewarding, it's very similar to any other away game, it's also an 'all pay' event, ie over and above season ticket monies. Yes, they have to hire the ground but they also have sponsors.
The 'Bash' may be a bit different though as the support level from some clubs is pretty limited. To compensate they don't go for quite such a high profile ground so savings are are made there. I still think the 'profit', if any, is likely to be thin at best though. I am assuming Sky get the TV rights as part of their normal contract.
