Today's T&A article on the future of Odsal contained some interesting language like 'commercially sensitive', 'Could be exciting if it fall the right way' seems to hint something is in the pipeline...and possibly not raw sewerage this time?

Would a stadium in line with 21st century expectations have any impact on attendances? Would it help out journey back to the top flight?

Or should I have learnt from Super Dome, OSV etc?

It didn't seem to say anything at all. There may be a development or there may not. The RFL may sell the lease back or may not. The whole article was summed up by Nigel Woods comment about a mid season friendly for the international side he actually said it would be against ' a team from the Southern hemisphere, or the Northern hemisphere'. This left the Milky Way Marauders deflated as they had been hoping to get the fixture.

Nothing of any note will ever happen as long as Council own it and RFL lease it. Wood is just waffling.

Has there not been enough disappointment in the last 20 years with regards to redeveloping Odsal, that now whenever this sort of news comes out, we all just laugh at it?

We need to spend another £100,000 on drawing up a new set of fantasy plans, more suitable to the 21st century, so that a colour artist's impression of a space-age stadium, complete with little trees and leggy matchstick couples and their children happily meandering by, can be plastered on the T&A front page.

I do miss those pictures. I sometimes wish I'd made myself up a full set of prints of them. But then again, my walls are probably not big enough.

At least we can now save money by playing our Coconut Shield fixtures in the field at the back. The crowd will still look a bit thin, mind.
