I know not much has been said about the signings for next year, at least not the signings coming in. However reading the story on the T&A website about this guy, I'm looking forward to seeing him pull on the shirt. Link The guy has given up two months income to get in shape to join the club. Shows a good attitude and a strong commitment. He deserves to succeed, so good on him!

Attitude appears to have been a problem with a number of our players for a while now. I personally am very happy to see a clearout of some of those players and bringing in people that make these kind of noises.

TBH I’m not surprised some players have shown poor attitude given the way the squad was managed under Lowes and Ferres. Some players seemed to get overplayed and others never played. Some got dropped for good after one poor performance and others repeatedly picked despite repeated poor performance. A lack of consistency is bound to breed discontent.

Add to that the fact that the squad was imbalanced so that even if everyone was fit it lacked the quality in some areas to get the best out of players. Some were clearly getting fed up (Gaskell) and why wouldn’t you? This year he was effectively lumbered with being the side’s kingpin and paired at halfback with a backrow forward and had to work with a fullback that was so slow he gets overtaken by stationery objects.

The squad for 2017 is currently at 29 but that includes a lot of young lads who won’t be playing week in week out so it’s already much leaner. There will be genuine competition for places. The likes of Peltier at the very worst should be as effective as Lauaki for a fraction of the price. I was also impressed by the comments made by people about Walton who also sounds like a player who give his all.

Alex Foster seems to be in a similar mould. I saw London fans using the words "workhorse" and "machine" which is always something I like to hear for new signings, especially when fans could be bitter about them moving on.

I think Smith will sign players with a different mind set and insist on it in his team. i agree about Peltier already putting in more effort than some this season. I am pleased we are having a clear out as most have gone as far as they can and willing to with us.

Question - If KR lose do we try and keep Clark. I say yes but no to Addey as he is as good as he will get and for me that isn't good enough. My only doubt about Addey is that he has always played out of position. Could Smith get him to improve playing at the back of the pack. Still not sure about that.

Whether he can or cannot I think it's better for Addy himself if he moves on.

Yeah Addy needs a new club preferably where he only has to play in the backrow.
